Shiv Nair’s response to being asked whether he worked on the Malta-China deal: “No comment”

The Malta Independent asked Shiv Nair whether he played a part (I actually think he was the architect of the deal) in fixing the Malta/China deal and he replied: “No comment”.

He told the newspaper that he sees no reason why he should discuss his “private work” and directed the journalist to the Malta government.

When, last year, this website revealed Shiv Nair’s pre-general election links to Joseph Muscat and the Labour Party, that Muscat, when he became prime minister, had made Nair a consultant to the government, and that Nair has been permanently blacklisted by the World Bank, Muscat fobbed off the press by saying that he would check about the blacklisting and in that case would no longer work with Nair.

Check about the blacklisting? There is no way he could not have known. Also, Nair is still quite obviously a presence.

Muscat signed an agreement with China in 2010. He called it a long term agreement between two countries. He was opposition leader at the time.

Xinhua’s reports of the agreement Muscat signed in opposition and the agreement he signed this week are virtually identical.

Xinhua is the state news agency. This is how China sees Muscat’s agreements. This week’s MOU simply formalises what Muscat has committed Malta to WHEN HE WAS STILL IN OPPOSITION.

Who did Muscat say financed his electoral campaign?

Muscat was grateful for China-aided projects in Malta, saying his country as a member of the European Union would work for the further development of bilateral relations as well as the China-EU relations.

Muscat said Malta-China relations, based on mutual understanding and mutual respect, have seen great development in recent years… Malta will utilize its geographical advantage to purse greater achievements in EU-China cooperation.

“Shiv Nair brokers deals for China in countries where there is no democracy or where democracy is very weak. That’s why he has been able to broker this deal for China in Malta.”

“Mr Nair – himself subject to a permanent blacklisting from the World Bank – told The Malta Independent that he saw no reason to discuss his private work with the newspaper, and suggested that it should contact the government for comments instead.” – The Malta Independent

It could be the choice of wording by the reporter, but I find it strange that Mr. Nair would reply that he saw no reason to discuss his private work with the newspaper if Muscat and the Maltese government were not his clients. He should have replied with a clear:

“No, I am not involved. I have no private work with the government of Malta. You should know that – I am permanently debarred by the World Bank for corruption, and Joseph Muscat had promised that he would not deal with corrupt persons because “min ma jiggilidx il-korruzzjoni hu korrott.””

His refusal to discuss private work would suggest that he did some private work on the deal.

But as I said, it could be the way Mr. Nair’s reply is worded by The Malta Independent.

In any case, the bottom line is that Mr. Nair has not denied his involvement.

I do not think I am the only one to believe that all of Joseph Muscat’s deals with China bear the mark of China’s secret weapon.

And, of course, all those with Shiv Nair who are busy paving his way behind the scenes – handshakes and all.

Notably Mr and Mrs Hills (Patricia/ aka Paddy and Richard aka Dick) from his same UK address at 135 Holland Park Avenue, London.

Handshakes go from Ireland to the Emirates and beyond.

Agenda “carried forward” by THE leading UK press.

Was China busy hacking for Muscat and Nair even then?

Actually for itself. The others would be paid tools.

  6. Calculator says:

One can assume that his lack of denial (“No comment”) can amount to a confirmation then, yes?

How does one handle these people? When they confirm something they lie and when they don’t commit to an answer it becomes obvious they’re trying to hide something.
