It would be interesting to know the costs of the “official visit” to Comino. How will the President’s car be transported to Comino? Will there be outriders too?
The smaller the pond, the larger the fish believes itself to be.
I’m a bit wary of certain stories in our newspapers. I’m convinced that some of them are spoofs. They can’t be true. A tour of Comino by the President indeed.
This news article suddenly makes full sense. We can’t expect President Coleiro Preca to go about Comino on foot, do we? She’ll be taken around in a car on an illegally built road. Nobody knows who constructed it, jahasra.
Alfred Sant kien jghatija parir kieku dwar kif tikkomunika mal-hniezer, tiftakru dik -hanziera fil-video kif kienet iffansjjatu meta kien zar il-mandra jigbor il-voti Abel l-elezzjoni tal-2008.
I really don’t wish to be judgemental, but see this:
“This company owns a very important parcel of land on the island of Comino, overlooking two private serene and beautiful bays. The company’s owners are currently undertaking extensive studies with a view to proceed on an ambitious development plan, which will take this unique site up-market. The development will fully respect the majestic and natural beauty of Comino.
The Queen has decided to pay a royal visit to the furthest reaches of her kingdom.

She probably feels more comfortable there than visiting the Vatican and the Pope .
Maybe the `new` illegal road was built with this in mind.
Wouldn’t surprise me. Now where’s Astrid?

After our prime minister held a press conference to announce a 2c decrease in the price of petrol, I wouldn’t be surprised at anything.
Maybe she is an avid diver and will be taking off from the cliffs.
I hope she takes a look at the rubbish there is all over the place, especially behind the hotel.
While she is there she might even notice the bad state of repair that the old quarters and the cemetery are in.
If she intends spending the night there, I’m sure she will notice the illegal drag-net fishing in the bays.
That is not a president’s business. She shouldn’t be going to Comino at all, unless it’s for R&R.
“ll piccolo mondo di Don Camillo”, obviously without the excellence of Cervi and Fernandel.
The lizards of Filfla must be so envious.
Is the head of state voyaging by sea or by ‘bozza tal-plastik’?
Does she know the island no longer hosts pigs?
And that, therefore, she can spend a night in the buildings now abandoned by the previous ‘guests’?

It was a million times nicer when it was leased.
Will she tour it clockwise or anticlockwise?
North to South, East to West, also diagonally – and several times if, that is, time allows it.
Hasra li l-razzett tal-majjali m’ghadux hemm. Kienet tghaddi tghidlhom hello.

I remember that! I couldn’t find the actual video, but did find this one, with a “voice-over” by Michael Falzon (tal-Labour). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pzbi7kkZRLg
Aha, she is going to tour the island before she approves to turn part of it into a nudist beach.
Jonathan Swift anyone?
In the news today. Edgarmarie visiting Comino for the next blokkbaster called; Back to the Golden Years

There we go. Yet more “exclusive development”.
Kif Alla jridna qeghdin!
The trough is getting wider and longer!!
Probably a committee will be set up to build a monument commemorating the first ever state visit to Comino.
This has become farcesque.
