Doesn’t anyone in Malta proof read? The Times is full of errors and yesterday an article In the on-line Independent used “absolute” instead of “obsolete”.
Please remember that we are now living in the ‘mhux xorta’ era and that when one cannot be great and is foolish he is often proud of his mediocrity.
They are hell-bent to advertise their ignorance.
Glaring incompetency by ex-PL henchmen in well-paid positions. They are there just for the perks. Quality comes last in their priorities.
Quality? Does it feature anywhere in their priorities. It’s “U ijja, mhux xorta, l-aqwa li naslu(?)”.
Cedwik Lejks ghax taghna lkoll – veru l-aqwa fl-Ewropa… mil-qieh imma.
I know, it should have read “lejks”.
Spot on
They are still looking for the Lake let alone Chedwick. Something else destroyed by greed and corruption.
At least it’s not ‘Excess’ to Mtarfa.
I’ve seen ‘No excess accepts residents only’ but it was a hand scrawled sign on a piece of plywood. Looks like soon we’ll be having official signs of that standard.
Must have been written by Sherizaya or Cleavon.
Anzi mhux Cedwit
Jew ic-Chickwick Lakes.
You just don’t get it, do you? We go to Chadwick Lakes, but they (Mtarfa residents) pass through Chedwick Lakes.
Tal-biki.
Naf wiehed jghidilhom ic-Ciklik wejs
Miktuba mic-cwiec – biex ikomplu jdahhqu n-nies bihom.
Dear Daphne
Belated welcome back…..I’d like to share a reflection I made earlier today.
The previous government spent much time and energy trying to raise standards in our country. At times this was perceived as over regulation particularly in the areas of environment or occupational health and safety. People were unhappy and went for change, msieken how do they sleep at night?
This morning whilst driving the children around in the space of 15 minutes I encountered two situations –
1. Two cars in front of me changed lane and blocked all remaining cars from driving through green lights as they were headed for the fork on the right where the lights were still red and some cars were waiting.
2. A truck carrying marble slabs stopped right in front of me as two slabs out of the several dozen which we uncovered and unsecured slipped off into the middle of the road. Ma tarax tying and covering……dak hela ta’ hin- whoever heard of safety
I sadly feel that the country is sliding rapidly and what’s more, other than your ardent supporters, it seems as though nobody cares about such things.
But isn’t it a case of people just feeling and knowing that they can now get away with such behaviour with impunity as standards are set starting at the top and we no longer seem to have any standards at all.
…fixed under a sign where it is spelled properly. I give up.
Mhux xorta….
And today The Times, reporting on Gozo’s preparedness (?) for an Ebola outbreak mentions suites twice in an article instead of suits.
It’s simply a natural consequence of not insisting on proper English pronunciation in schools. Take the ‘th’ sound for instance. Never during my schools years were we corrected by our teachers for pronouncing it as though it were a ‘t’, as the vast majority of Maltese people do (including politicians and learned scholars).
The “‘a’ as in apple” vowel has suffered the same fate, simply because it doesn’t exist in the Maltese language. “U ajma, dawn ic-cucati kollha…mhux xorta se tinftiehem?” is a typical excuse. This anything goes mentality is really making us look crass.
It must be work of a consultant from One TV
According to article of Gracie Attard carried in Times yesterday, the past of “know” is …… “new”
