Edward Zammit Lewis issued a denial yesterday. As though he of all people would be in the know. As though the word of anybody in government nowadays is his bond.

Meanwhile, his boss has stayed significantly silent, possibly because he was taken up with sharing yet another pastizz with the Justice Minister and the Police Minister. Then they can all go to the nutritionist and the gym together and bounce around while counting their cash.

Of course they are going to sell Air Malta. And not just that, but chairman Maria Micallef and CEO Philip Micallef (no relation – he’s actually Lara Boffa’s first cousin) are going to have their commercial credibility and reputation ruined. Louis Giordmaina, who built a reputation as CEO of Lufthansa Technik’s Malta operation, beat a hasty retreat after just a few months in the Air Malta CEO job. There would have been a good few reasons for that.

Do they have any reputation to lose?

It seems that every time the government has a problem it cannot handle (Enemalta and now Air Malta), the only solution is to sell it off to the Chinese.

Every time the government has a problem it cannot handle, Muscat eclipses in the background and he puts forward others whose reputation will be ruined.

Then, if the problem is solved, Muscat takes the lime light.

It’s not original. Obama invented that now-you-see-me-now-you-don’t game. Now he has become so toxic that during the current mid-term elections campaign senate and house rep candidates told him t back off since his presence would damage their polls rating. But that’s Obama’s second term.

Joseph may not have become toxic yet but he’s getting there.

But it seems that the Chinese have realised that he’s a liar and untrustworthy, with the feeling being mutual.

Philip Viva Chi Regna Micallef. During Austin Gatt’s time he was the number one yes man.

Just before the general elections he escaped to Bermuda and wrote comments on this blog saying that he jumped before being made to jump by those nasty Labourites once they got into government.

And look where he is now.

Record of a used car salesman

    Extract:

    >>Who knows? We know nothing about how many passports have been sold or how many “talented” persons have become new Maltese citizens. We know that Muscat is still pursuing his sales pitch around the globe. Would he still be making such a huge effort to sell had his plan worked out? Why would he go to Singapore for another sales event had he been successful?

Muscat is definitely assertive and optimistic. He is selling a very good product. For goodness sake, our country is an extremely good product to sell. By deduction, therefore, Muscat has one key element missing: he is not trustworthy.

He made one huge promise to the nation and he did not keep it. That does not make him trustworthy. If he cannot deliver a power station within two years of going to power (as promised), then he is not a man of his word and he cannot be trusted.

International investors see through this. Multi-millionaires spot an untrustworthy conman in a split second. They may attend the parties and conferences. They may pass compliments and be polite. But they simply won’t close the deal. It’s just not in their interest. Can they trust golden assurances from someone who could be so glib with his own voters? Would they risk investing in a country that just might slap them with a huge tax bill down the road, after they’ve invested, in order to fill a huge deficit hole?

There’s one simple way to find out if I’m mistaken. I challenge Joseph Muscat to publish the names and numbers of all those who invested in his scheme.<<
