Earlier today, Dragonara Gaming petitioned the court, requesting the judge presiding over its casino licence case against the Finance Minister/the government to hear the testimony of retired judge Geoffrey Valenzia.

Valenzia headed the tender technical evaluation committee before it was disbanded on the personal orders of Minister Chris Cardona.

A spokesman for the company told this website: “We have reason to believe that the Privatisation Unit’s chairman, Emanuel Camilleri, lied under oath, and we want the judge to hear what ex judge Valenzia has to say before he decides on the case.”

It was Joe Micallef of In-Nazzjon who signaled this by an affidavit this afternoon, basically that he had seen the final Valenzia report unlike Camilleri’s testimony where he said that that report was inconclusive.

Ah, Manuel Camilleri – the man Mintoff ‘head hunted’ from Australia to set up that leading-edge government IT operation at Swatar.

The Labour government of 1996 then made him MITA CEO/chairman, and he brought a new style to the office by removing his shoes when he got in.

When Labour were kicked out of office he stayed on because of his close relationship with John Dalli, and held important Finance Ministry positions carrying out ‘special projects’ while writing waffling articles about project management – 60s style.

Now he is Privatisation Unit chairman, with a car and chauffeur who carries his bag into his luxurious office every morning at Tigne.

He used to have a female aide who carried his lunchbox, but something must have changed recently.

Another one in the tangled web with allies on both sides or rather on one side now, because his PN ally wasn’t really a PN ally at all, given that John Dalli now looks to have been some kind of self-serving/Labour Trojan horse all along.

Manuel Camilleri – the worst kind of Mintoffian, now heading a Privatisation Unit near you.

Oh, Manuel ‘How good I am; how good I am’ Camilleri. Those who attended his “lectures” know what I mean.
