In three months’ time, he’ll pop up as chairman of something or other
The Labour Party candidate Robert Henry Bugeja, who was in the running for Karmenu Vella’s seat (but didn’t get it) has resigned his candidature for the party.
A spokesman for the prime minister said that Joseph Muscat does not agree with the views Bugeja expressed on Facebook, and he “does not feel comfortable with anyone expressing them in any forum”.
Robert Henry Bugeja must have been taken aback to discover this, given that the prime minister and his sidekick Manuel Mallia were until recently at the forefront promoting these views and trying to violate human rights with push-backs.
But the prime minister has no core beliefs and adapts himself to the situation in the most cynical manner possible. It is only a matter of months now before we hear that Robert Henry Bugeja has been installed as chairman of something or other, or given a job in Brussels, or made some kind of special envoy, in return for resigning now.
It happened with Anglu Farrugia, who was made to resign as party deputy leader only to crop up in the constitutional role of Speaker of the House. It happened with Joe ‘Fat Controller’ Grima, who was made to give up his Super One TV show after calling a priest as paedophile and telling him to f**k off on Facebook, and who was later given the far more lucrative status of prime minister’s special envoy to the World Tourism Organisation.
And more notoriously still, it happened with Cyrus Engerer, who was made to pull out of the EP electoral race and then had his boyfriend made chef de cabinet to Malta’s permanent representative in Brussels, while he himself has a non-specified job at that same Dar Malta, bypassing the requirement of police conduct clearance.
Keep your eyes open for Robert Henry Bugeja’s appointment – coming to a screen near you soon.

Daphne, you’re posting new news items at rate that surpasses the combined rate of the main newspapers’ online versions. Great service, massive effort.
PS: You must be a woman with her tummy pressed against the kitchen sink….
They also have to find a top job for Patrick Spiteri.
Alfred Sant had appointed him his financial consultant.
I am sure he is now more mature and even more qualified to occupy that post.
He and Dalli will make a fine trio with Alfred Mifsud in charge of the country’s investments at the Central Bank.
Yesterday Muscat got an unprecedented ‘hasla papali’ from ALL ex-presidents and current president of Din L-Art Helwa and today Muscat got lambasted by the true and real Labour:

He’s getting it bombarded from all sides.
His cool reply “Noted, but thank you” to be expected in this instance too.
I would not trust any of the signatories in that open letter.
They all voted Muscat in. Now they feel left out.
Hypocrites.
A man of 18 who bit a police inspector yesterday in Zabbar has been sentenced to 4 months imprisonment.
About 6 months ago a man, also from Zabbar, who obviously is a diehard PL man, attacked and injured not one but 4 police officers and yet the police were ordered not to charge him, while Manwel Mallia has a report on this incident and has not had the decency to publish it.
Two weights and two measures.
What a black Sunday for the Partit Laburista Malti and the Labour government. So many negative topics cropping up. All not in the name of transparency, good governance, meritocracy, and all the other deceitful election campaign slogans.
The edifice is showing the first signs of cracking.
Is his partner not Eastern European?
It is ironic that someone holding such repugnant racist views could feel so comfortable being part of the most liberal, progressive, feminist movement in history.
I never understood how some people think they can get away with paying lip service to high-minded ideals whilst privately exhibiting the contrary.
If you look on Robert Henry Bugeja’s Facebook page you’ll see a tirade against Bulgarian people working for Go Mobile in Malta.
What he has deleted from his FB page is the mere fact that his life-partner is Eastern European. Some people’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. What a position to put your partner/wife and daughter in.
Nobody wants another Franco Debono. Although this guy’s Form IIC results might be somewhat different.
There goes the ‘liberal and progressive’ Labour Party. Imperium Europa fanatics probably regard a guy like this as a hero.
Pure, unadulterated scum. The lot of them.
They are whining because they do not have their iced buns yet. And what does Mark Montebello expect ? A recommendation from Joseph Muscat so that he gets a bishop’s hat, no less?
Did you notice that same as Johnny Cash Dalli this professional confidence trickster also raised his ‘unable to travel by doctor’s order’ card? I’m sure one day such a card will be standard PL issue.
