Is the Malta Broadcasting Authority asleep. Who vets the news items. A continuous lowering of standards. Trash TV.

[Daphne – That’s the website. It operates independently of the television news and sounds like it’s produced by somebody who used to work for L-Orizzont.]

Is having a brain a requirement to work in a newsrooms?

How come no one is asking the question of what this woman was told during the scan by the foetal specialist. Was this woman refered for a d & c, and if not, why not? Was she referred to any councelling or for a followup especially considering that there was an abnormality?

Would she have pleaded guilty to the abortion if she had known and understood that there was no baby?

”Raya Sellami Zammit, 30, was sentenced to a suspended jail term after she admitted swallowing a concoction of pills with the intention of committing an abortion.

But according to foetal specialist Naged Megally, who carried out the ultrasound on October 27 – two weeks before Ms Zammit decided to take the pills – the scan showed an empty gestational sac.

According to ultrasound documents the ultrasound-based diagnosis was that she had a blighted ovum. That occurs when a fertilised egg attaches itself to the uterine wall but the embryo fails to develop. The placenta can continue to grow and support itself without a baby for a short time, and pregnancy hormones can continue to rise, which leads a woman to believe she is still pregnant. TOM
