Paul Sheehan was one of Don Manuel’s vote-canvassers for the general election

Published: November 28, 2014 at 9:02pm

I was listening to Radio 101 while driving this afternoon and a man rang in to say that Manuel Mallia is lying when he claims not to know Paul Sheehan well, and that he was “assigned to him as a driver”.

This caller said that Sheehan was stationed at the Spinola Bay station (so that’s where I know him) and that in the last general election campaign he went round knocking on doors in the Sliema area with Manuel Mallia, canvassing for votes.

He’s not the first person I’ve heard say that, but he’s the first one saying it in public, on the radio.

A humorous sticker I had seen affixed to the back windscreen of a car on the Sliema front in the eighties read,

“Insured by the Mafia. You toucha ma car, we smasha your face!”

I guess it wasn’t that humorous after all!

Don’t question his integrity. He is very touchy.

I might be wrong but aren’t members of the police corps forbidden from taking part in political activities?

The coming episode of Mob Wives will be featuring a new wife. Corduta Mallia or better known as Duda.

Is Codruta Don Manuel’s wife? I hadn’t realised he had married a second time. I thought they were just living together. So his first marriage must have been declared null, then. I wonder how he worked that one out.

Maybe he was so busy counting his millions that he forgot knowing Sheehan and his family albeit he used to leave his daughter in the care of Mrs. Sheehan

This is a relevant and considerable telling factor that has come to light, since his children are his pride and joy.

With GM14 outside that door, it too points to “error of judgement,” no matter when the child arrived there and who dropped that child off.

Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know policemen/women cannot show their political allegiance whilst actively in the force.

I happened to watch ‘All the President’s men revisited’ on Discovery. It is riveting stuff. Even if the contexts are completely different, there may be some parallels between the events leading up to Watergate and the circumstances surrounding the Gzira shooting incident.

The shooting incident of the Minister’s driver is proof that there are people in government who are willing to lie to obscure the truth. They may also be willing to break the law to protect their position.

The truth will catch up with them and eventually so will the law.

Talking about lies by this man one must watch the video ‘Mallia gives peace of mind …’ to list a barrage. Suckered voters should watch this video again and again and bang their heads against the wall. Idiots.

18,000 non-core Labour voters, in addition to the core Labour voters add up to a whole lot of stupid people.

The Maltese political system is set to fail from the get go. Follow this train of events:

    1) Party candidate begins his campaign to get elected and has voluntary canvassers working for him by asking people to vote for him.

    2) Candidate’s party gets elected to government and candidate becomes an MP.

    3) Canvasser requests that his son is found a job; MP feels obliged to help and reward his canvasser’s hard work which ultimately helped put MP in his current position.

    4) MP finds that it’s easy to carry out the request by employing the son in his ministry/ department. There are no call for applications or interviews are rigged. The best person may have not been chosen, thus possibly having an incompetent person in an important (or not) position.

Now imagine a different request: overlooking a brother’s criminal behaviour or having a family business rewarded a tender.

Consider also how a canvasser may be privy to details about an upcoming tender or other opportunities and he would be able to prepare himself better, thus leading to his company being chosen over others.

The possibilities for corruption are endless. Which leads me to a final point. Malta needs to introduce proper state-financing for parties and fast.

We do not need election candidates worrying about their budgets for their campaigns, thus accepting people to work voluntarily for them, knowing that they will come for their pound of flesh later on.
