The Appeals Court has ‘reported’ Luciano Busuttil to the AG and the CAJ. But is he bothered?

Published: November 13, 2014 at 10:38pm

The Court of Appeal has ‘reported’ Luciano Busuttil to the Attorney-General and the Commission for the Administration of Justice, but he’s acting breezy.

He thinks playing it cool and showing he doesn’t care is a good thing. He doesn’t realise it makes him look even more unfit for purpose. He’s not aware of the magnitude of what he has done.

Three jobs to earn only half of that. My oh my, this man must be a really crappy lawyer.

As for his being bothered, he already knows that he will get away with it. They all do. Invariably.

    • wacko says:

Ok let’s do the maths… half of 80K is 40K, and 40k/3 = 13.3K a year each job. Apart from grammar school, I suggest he also attends Mathematics in a primary school.

    • Mike says:

That’s less than 130 euros a week per job. Does he think we’re all turnip heads?

  2. Alf says:

These people can get away with murder because “Malta taghhom ilkoll”

That country is a bloody lost cause.

  5. Joe Fenech says:

How old is this man, 40 ish? He surely has a lot of spare time on his hands to be tweeting at that rate.

  6. bernie says:

Saying that he has to work three jobs is not telling the whole truth. He can also pave easy ways for his clients.

  7. Qeghdin Sew says:

‘Fiu’? Doesn’t the moron know it’s ‘phew’?

  8. Gahan says:

After reading the last FB comment, I would suggest to Dr Luciano to talk to Carmelo Abela on how he can grab more than St John did.

Luciano can direct that comment at his colleague Carmelo, not to mention Konrad’s wife.

  9. Makjavel says:

    Removing documents from tender documents.

    What a brilliant idea.

Joseph Muscat will make him Minister for Libraries and Historical Archives.

  10. eve says:

Someone acts breezy maybe because there is protection. Nahseb se nahlu l-hin tal AG u tal CAJ.

  11. Another John says:

Why should he be? Which politician has, since achieving Independence, paid a price for his misdeeds, incompetence or whatever, in Malta?

Bar non-re-election, of course. In Malta politicians are not only not prosecuted for their misdeeds, they have instead monuments erected for them.

In Malta, history never teaches us a lesson and the truth never emerges publicly.

In Malta it always depends on whose side are you on and history is seen from that perspective. Thus, we only have heroes and imsieken, but we never have villains.

  12. Someone says:

Hey pigeons, go find your own fountain! That water belongs to the Minister of the Black-Shirted Police.

  13. J. Agius says:

He obviously is not aware of the seriousness of the situation however as mentioned in a previous comment, he will probably get away with it. Not only that, Joseph muscat will probably award him like he has awarded the likes of Cyrus.

  14. QahbuMalti says:

I would love to know what the replacement CEOs are being paid by the Labour government. I believe the Air Malta CEO is paid €150,000 (which I think is low of THAT position at THIS time).

So you would pay six Hamrun crap lawyers with that money huh? Ever dared to find out what money a mechanic or plasterer or tiler or electrician makes, Luciano?

  15. Lola says:

Seems as if your PM thinks that Sai Mizzi is worth much more than you then. Did you ask him why?

  16. Tom Double Thumb says:

Remember that when the uprisings began in North Africa in 2011, Joseph Muscat had said that in Lawrence Gonzi’s position he would have welcomed this golden opportunity to ‘steal’ Tunisia’s tourists. Now short-sighted that was.

The troubles in Libya now are no longer seen as a golden opportunity for anything but are blamed for all our negative results in trade, exports, employment, cost of fuel, etc.

Maybe Joe Grima, our special envoy to the World Tourism Organization, can stand up on his own two feet long enough to put Joseph Muscat’s theory and advice into practice.

  17. ciccio says:

The Appeals Court has highlighted the conflict of interest between Luciano Busuttil’s role as lawyer for his client and Busuttil’s role in advising about the award of the tender where his client was a bidder.

But really there is another conflict of interest. The Bormla council has a Labour party majority. Why is the council seeking independent professional legal advice from an MP of the same Labour party which has the majority in the council?

Both the council and Busuttil have the same allegiance towards the Labour party.

If this is not a conflict of interest, I don’t know what is. This is all in the family, and shows once more Labour’s way of government.

  18. Jason King says:

It is just merely going to be a formality. It is perfectly clear that the people in Malta love titles but not the responsibilities that it carries.

  19. La Redoute says:

He doesn’t even know how to spell phew.

  20. Abulafia says:

Now that H.P. Baxxter has joined the throng of ‘Nazzjonalisti Imweggghin’ who will taunt Luciano relentlessly on Twitter?

  21. Antoine Vella says:

This story will be buried. It’s up to the free media, this blog in the forefront, to remind us.

Oil price rout to deepen amid supply glut, warns IEA.

Brent crude tipped to fall to $75 per barrel as investors short the market and supply outstrips demand.

  28. A tale of two buses says:

I had to use public transport this week.

On Wednesday, I boarded Bus 360, which was on route 12 in the direction of Valletta. Outside, the electronic signal was showing ‘Bugibba.’

It’s a white bus, apparently one of those imported by Minister Joe Mizzi. When the bus reached the Sarria stop in Floriana, the vehicle leaned forward on braking, and one tourist who was sitting on the right was doused in cold water from the airconditioning system.

Incidents like this have been reported before, but it seems that Transport Malta has not solved the problem.

On Friday, I travelled on Bus 421 on Route 53. It’s painted blue like others in the fleet, but it is not a King Long like most of the others.

Once inside, I was immediately reminded of the old buses: on the panel above the windscreen, there were two names hand painted in colourful paint: Karl and Michela.

It won’t be long before we start seeing statues of the Madonna tal-Karmnu and the Redentur again, I thought. The electronic panel inside was functional, but it had some screws missing and was clearly loose, so there is a risk it will soon come down on some passengers.

  29. Ghoxrin Punt says:

I think it is about time Minister Konrad Mizzi takes political responsibility for what has become a disastrous energy strategy and resign.

  31. Chris Mifsud says:

Air Malta’s newly appointed Head of Industrial Relations, Andrew Mizzi, has just resigned. They are choosing people who are not competent to fill such key roles.

Regarding Astrid’s petulant questions to the comment below the article, no we didn’t.

Not when the FAA displays foolishness to the extent it believes this government ‘lost its environmental credentials’. Really, when did it ever have any?

The FAA cannot arbitrarily ‘offer’ to bring over a tree specialist, definitely not with taxpayers’ money and any further messing around with an NGO’s agenda and competence shall create only more confusion and suspicion.

She never learns. What are the members of this august association waiting for to get rid of her? She’s in the way.

  33. Towni says:

    Breaking news

Mr.Andrew Mizzi , ‘ Head of industrial relations’ at AirMalta has resigned for personal reasons.
