  1. Big Bang says:

Has anyone checked if it is true that Sheehan’s mother lives at Triq il-Wied tal Kappara? The only Sheehan listed in Gzira, lives at Tejqet Cottoner, a good 350 metres away.

[Daphne – Nobody is claiming she lives in that street. That street is where the altercation took place. The wing mirror was hit in her street. Then there was a chase to the other street.]

    • Mila says:

At 0:06 and 0:43 it is specifically stated that it was in that street,Triq Wied il-Kappara, that the accident (crashing into the minsiter’s car) occured.

How could Mr Sheehan hear the crash from his mum’s house?

I am not trying to be impertinent but I so concur when you point out that the devil is in the detail. In this case, there are so many who are trying to minimize damage that only putting everything under the microscope will ensure that wool is not pulled in front of our eyes. After all, just in the last 24 hours, we have seen plenty of attempts.

Let’s hope one of the neighbours clears this significant detail up. The repercussions are humongous

  2. Jien says:

Note that from the video in this post it appears that the plates on the official car were NOT GM plates, but AQZ 85?. No wonder the Briton fled when faced by a thug brandishing a gun in a case of road rage.

    • albona says:

And why would you assume that A) any foreigner would recognise those plates as being those of a Mnisterial car B) anyone, foreigner or Maltese would check number plates whilst having a gun waved around in your face and subsequenrly being shot at?

Can I assume you know what official cars look like in the Soloman Islands, Chile, Greece or indeed even the more well-known coumtries to the Maltese – the UK or Italy?

      Didn’t think so.

Honestly, the Maltese really do believe this little rock is the navel of the world.

    • observer says:

That is, I should assume, because the driver was ‘off duty’ (since his minister, in the meantime, was attending an international conference at the Police Headquarters) and, therefore, he did not need the GM plate for the period.

Being a very conscientious police officer, of course, he also made sure that the fuel used for his trip from Floriana to Gzira and back should come out of tax-payers’ money.

    • billy goat says:

That’s because the GM plate has to be removed when the car is not on official business. In any case, GM or no GM, it was still a plain clothed individual brandishing a gun. I would have done the same, especially knowing who’s in government.

  3. Watcher of lies and more lies says:

We should all wait for the outcome of the inquiry (which will find that it was Simon Busuttil who fired the shots and Gonzi procured the gun and bullets).

  4. Peritocracy says:

    “Shame on you, ministru.”

  5. martha says:

instead of having a referendum on il- cacca we desperately need a referendumfor minister Mallia to be totally disqualified as a politician .

  6. Arnold Layne says:

The shots were actually fired from the grassy knoll.

  7. M. Vella says:

Official cars should ONLY be used for official business with the official number plate.

They should not be used to visit relatives, take children to school or to take the wife shopping.

  8. orapronobis says:

Next elections will tell if the electorate will truly allow these pimps, thieves and scoundrels to ‘get away with murder’.

  9. Persil says:

It was wrong for the policeman who was on duty with Mallia to go on his errands.

He should have stayed there waiting for the minister.

So I am of the opinion that Mallia is not to blame. The policeman/driver took the law into his hands.

To shoot one has to be in extreme danger, it does not mean that if you have a gun you can use it indiscriminately.

Sack the policeman immediately. Do we have to start being afraid if we see a policeman?

    1. Where does Sheehan’s mother live?

[Daphne – In Gzira. Somebody uploaded the street name on this website, but I can’t remember right now.]

    2. In what street did the shooting take place?

    [Daphne – Triq Wied Il-Kappara.]

    3. In what street did the neighbours witness this event?

    [Daphne – See 2. above.]

    4. Is there evidence of shooting on the school’s perimeter wall?

    5. Were other shots fired in the tunnel?

    6. Was Sheehan really at his mother’s?

    • mf says:

Re. 1 & 2, that is exactly what I am after.

The shooting took place after Sheehan heard a noise and went out on the street with a gun in his hand, or picking a gun from his parked ministerial car, in TRIQ WIED IL-KAPPARA and NOT in the street where his mother lives (1).

Who was Sheehan visiting in Triq Wied il-Kappara?

[Daphne – Nobody that we know of. He apparently chased Morrison Smith from the street where his mother lives into Triq Wied Il-Kappara and forced him to stop there. That is his version, of course. We don’t know whether he really was at his mother’s.]

      • mf says:

No. It cannot be. Triq Wied il-Kappar is always parked on both sides and if Smith was in front there was no way Sheehan could have forced him to stop.

All Smith had to do was turn right and step on it and find himself in Sliema Road in seconds.

The only logical explanation is that Smith was driving out of Gzira through Triq Wied il-Kappar, and having to enter it by making quite a wide circle, because there is always a car with its left mudguard crashed always parked at the very edge of the corner on one’s right, and most probably Smith lost a bit of control and over steered more to the right and found GM 14, I would say between the third and the fourth plot.

Apart from that, before making the right turn into this street there is one of those extra wide tarmac sleeping policeman which will surely send you off track if you do not control your speed before hitting it and turning right.
