What corruption – massive conflict of interest there, but I don’t see a Maltese clock

Where do these people get off, using public money to give themselves contracts? Manuel Mallia is the minister responsible for PBS. PBS is responsible for the ‘song for Eurovision’ contest held this past weekend.

Silvio Scerri is the minister’s head of secretariat. But he is really a business operator, who set up and ran the lighting company Nexos for half a lifetime. Now somebody else is supposed to be running it on his behalf while he interferes with the police and the media on Mallia’s behalf.

Nexos lit the entire show this weekend.

This stuff is worthy of a third world country – not so much banana republic as prickly pear republic.

If Malta ever had a sex toy museum, that bloody clock should be its prime piece.

It’s the last time we saw the “deadpan” collective pool of journalists excited and hot on to something.

  2. Albatross says:

Silvio Scerri should be INVESTIGATED! Like the Kaboccu of Hamrun.

    SHAME on ALL of THEM!

  3. Albatross says:

Who are the current shareholders of Nexos?

Can we see the share transfer agreement?

  4. Watcher of lies says:

Nexos are being awarded works on direct order basis by government entities like there’s no tomorrow. Ask his competitors.

They are sacking employees due to lack of work.

No call for tenders are being issued hence these have no bloody chance of being awarded lighting system installation works.

It’s public knowledge. A parliamentary question would be in order.

  5. Tabar says:

The are simply filling their coffers before Malta is not of the Maltese any longer.

And also, naturally, the Junior Eurovision over the previous weekend.

Why ‘CAMERAS !!! DO NOT PASS’ – not to get him in “shot”?

  8. Back to basics says:

I read that the Prime Minister will wait for the outcome of the board of inquiry to determine whether Minister Mallia was involved in the shooting incident, and if he was directly involved, the Prime Minister will ask for his resignation.

At least this is what I understood from media reports.

However, Minister Mallia’s position is untenable irrespective whether he was directly involved with the shooting incident.

I have no doubt that the board of inquiry will determine that the minister was unaware of the incident when it happened. I should hope so.

Minister Mallia’s position is untenable because it was his driver who caused the incident, because the driver is a constable and the Minister is in charge of police.

That he tried to give other indications on how the incident occurred only aggravates matters.
