Stephen Smith is registered to a boat at the Ta’ Xbiex Marina

Published: December 11, 2014 at 8:35pm

Some people have emailed and posted comments to contradict me about the fact that Stephen Smith is registered as living on a boat at the Ta’ Xbiex Marina because they have picked up on the detail that the MFSA records have him down as living at a flat in Villa Eugenie, Birkirkara.

However, his Maltese identity card (20025A – resident alien) records have him registered to a boat called Happy Days, berthed at the Ta’ Xbiex Marina. For the years immediately prior to that, he was registered to a flat in St Paul’s Bay, where his parents are still registered as living until the present. They too have Maltese identity cards ending in A for resident alien. There are also another three people with different surnames and ID card numbers ending in A who are registered to that same flat.

The only people registered to flat 7, Villa Eugenie are a Maltese man born in 1980 and an Italian doctor who is a registered resident of Malta.

All the details you might need are in screen shots below.

If he has an “alien” status on his ID card, then surely he is not a Maltese citizen as has been lately reported.

[Daphne – That had come out of his nationality being listed as ‘Maltese’ in the Waterbus International company records at the MFSA. He has lived in Malta most of his life, though – he went to school at St Martin’s College in Swatar.]

I’m too tired to think. Whoever this guy is, he was driving a car, had shots fired at him and that is never a good thing.

  3. anthony says:

Can the MFSA explain the apparent discrepancy in their records?

Is he Maltese or is he not Maltese?

    This is a serious matter.

How is he allowed to drive around Malta in a UK-registered car?

That car has been on our roads for quite some time.

And what is his tax status?

Does he pay income tax as a Maltese citizen or as a foreigner?

Or is it the case that his business is neither taxable or VAT-liable?

    This guy has friends.

    Friends in high places.

    Who are they?

This is what a PM should be trying to find out instead of escaping to his bed.

    A real PM that is.

Certainly not one who is a fraud.

Brazil is the place where nuts come from, but we already have more than enough of those, so instead we buy beef. Keith Schembri has a cousin who buys a lot of it.

  5. Peter Bloom says:

I hope that the new Police Commissioner has assigned a good sleuth — if there are any left in the Police Corps — to investigate and perhaps unravel this Gordian knot of companies, passports, nationalities…and possibly more.

  6. Tye says:

What difference does it make if the car has foreign plates?

Are we discussing who he is, what he had and where he’s coming from or what he went through? I believe the latter is the issue.

[Daphne – The latter is just one of the many issues.]

  7. Caroline says:

The MFSA does not ask for proof of address so it is quite easy to get around that, by for instance, presenting your passport instead of your ID card.

  8. Nighthawk says:

He walked passed me at the Ferries this afternoon. Not sure if he was in a daze or whether he has a natural ‘ebete’ look.

  10. Persil says:

Can you make public one’s personal information? Unless of course they are on the telephone directory? Otherwise it is a breach to one’s secrecy.

[Daphne – The information is public domain. That’s how I got it. It’s called the electoral roll (register), which is – by definition – one of the most public documents you can possibly have.]

According to Times of Malta, the nickname L-Iskocciz translates as The Scotsman. So then how is Bagollu translated?
