The most feminist government in Maltese history honours a Saudi oppressor of women (and gay men)

Our self-described progressive and liberal prime minister, who promised us “the most feminist government in Maltese history” has chosen to honour, with our country’s most important gong, a member of the Saudi Arabian ruling family, notorious for its terrible oppression of women and gay men, and its barbaric behaviour in general.
How anybody could have fallen for Muscat’s rubbish is beyond me. What was it – mass hysteria?
Disgusting.

Oh, the Prince himself is on trial for rape. Of a 20-year model, on his yacht, in Spanish waters, in August 2008.
Cheers, Malta.
Nice going, Michael Briguglio, bil-human rights u l-protesti ta’ ******.

They cannot get rid of the Mintoffian subservient colonial mentality. So much for helsien.
Min ghalihom Li se jisolhu lic-Cinizi u lil princep biljunarju by trading insignificant honours.
Reminds me of the honours given to Ceaucescu and Gaddafi. Iktar ma tilghaqhom lil dawn in-nies iktar jobzqulek fil-platt.
The more despotic these people and nations are, the more of their butts these Labour government honchos like to kiss.
The Saudis, together with other Western ‘alies’, are also known to have unceasingly funded extremist Islamic groups, more recently Islamic State™.
This is from a (corporate media) report I randomly picked up through a quick search:
“The most important source of ISIS financing to date has been support coming out of the Gulf states, primarily Saudi Arabia but also Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates”
http://www.dw.de/who-finances-isis/a-17720149
You can only understand why the West and its corporate media are so appeasing towards these rogue kingdoms from a higher political perspective – and that is, the widely evident fact that there are powers higher than governments at work globally.
And no, it’s not ‘about the oil’. That’s low-level global politics – something like Second Division football.
They fund them so later on they can declare war on them.
War is big business and it is also a good excuse to have a constant Western presence in the Middle East.
Corruption and money keeps this world in the terrible state that is in.
Human life means very little to all sides involved.
War is big business, yes, but when you own the world’s money-printing presses, then power and control becomes more important than money. Tyrannies need bogeyman enemies to help them keep their populations under control through fear, causing them to accept despotic laws which they would have otherwise rejected.
Why was he honoured? Do we know?
For fostering links between us and them (that is, officially).
Is he gay?
This has Shiv Nair all over it: “give him a gong, PM, and he’ll repay in all sorts of ways…”
Hu gofik Engerer, ma’ dan ma halliekx tiltaqa’.
Poor Malta. One day you may wake up and realize you are being taken for a ride.

It’s a nonsense to honour someone before they deliver.
Most ironic that this is a Labour, merit-professed government honouring a hereditary prince using money he hasn’t earned for something he hasn’t yet done.
Anyway here’s an old debate which has some tips about similar “pastizzi”. No harm in debating a total reform of Maltese honours: http://youtu.be/H1U25AaSsRk
Whatever happened to that call to revoke the Maltese honours granted to Gaddafi et al? Was it ever followed up?
Well, I honoured my wife before she delivered.

This government’s only god is money.
So true that even Mintoff himself admitted it. Remember him saying with a sort of regret: “If only I had the ability to create work as I have to get money”.
He said this publicly soon after he had obtained another donation in his begging-bowl on some occasion or other.
We make a fuss about Isis for their beheading acts. In Saudi Arabia they behead convicted people in a public square, in the capital, for everybody to watch. And they stone women too.
For them it’s not a scary thing or extreme cruelty but entertainment. Furthermore, they all treat women and Asian immigrant workers like shit.
What do Helena Dalli, Gabi Calleja and Cyrus Engerer think about honouring a member of an oppressive regime that violates the rights of women and homosexuals?
Shouldn’t the press ask them?

As a Maltese citizen it pains me to see this.
First we had Muammar Gaddafi receiving medals and having Maltese town squares named in his honour. Now it’s this Saudi prince. How progressive and liberal of us.

Past honorees who have any self respect should return their award to the President in protest because of the way this ‘honour’ has been degraded.
The mind boggles, but apparently he gives us money. That should be that. Other than that, sono c.zzi loro.
[Daphne – ‘He gives us money.’ What a mentality.]
Sono cavoli nostri!
He was honoured in order to provide a ‘cultural link’ to Malta in order to obtain his nth passport.

It is becoming increasingly evident that contrary to their predecessors, the only way this sorry excuse for an administration can continue financing their egos is by trying to exort freebies from this kind of people,
They know perfectly well that they cannot exort freebies from the US or Canada because borg are democracies and their administrations do not own the country and thus cannot dish out freebies out of the peoples money, on the contrary the rulers of Saudi, Azerbarjan and China can give freebies to the MLP because they own the country and its people, the problem is that they havent yet realized that these people never give freebies for nothing.
This country has gone back to the 80s big time and the only way to reverse this path is for the poeple to vote out these amatures, neverthless we would have still be five years behind our competitors because the years between 2013 and 2018 would be lost years for our country.

Did Malta’s President Marie Louise Coleiro discuss the concept of religious police with the ‘Prince’ and find herself in good company perhaps discussin cover-ups.
”Saudi Arabia’s ‘religious police’ assault a Muslim British man and wife in Riyadh because the couple reportedly used a women-only cashier line at a supermarket in Riyadh.”
The incident became public because a video was put online (does this ring a bell).
The four members of the religious police, called Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CPVP), instead of being kicked out of the CPVP were transfered to administrative jobs outside Riyadh. According to Albawaba the one who jumped on the Briton is the unit’s chief.

Selling passports to shady millionaires and to members of the North Korean KGB, selling our energy grid control to the Chinese Communists and Azeri dictatorship and now handing over national honours to corrupt billionaires for a little bit of their cash.
Why is it that Labour only does business with regimes that are known for the oppression of their own people, for their unbridled corruption and where there is an enormous gap between the rich few and the masses of their poor?
That is why the Labour leadership always fought against the EU membership. At the time they saw it as a deviation and a possible obstacle to forming alliances with the shit of the earth.
Our newspapers give prominence to this particular honoree as if the government has made some great achievement.
And our progressive government gives the honour to……..a Saudi Prince.
”Will Saudi Arabia Execute Guest Workers for ‘Witchcraft’?
Indonesian guest workers are on trial in Saudi Arabia for “witchcraft.” But the charges are cover for cultural misunderstandings, sexual assaults, and withheld wages.”
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/03/29/indonesia-workers-in-saudi-arabia-are-on-trial-for-witchcraft-some-facing-the-death-penalty.html
How many of those hailing this move and hoping that they might get a crumb out of this know that in Saudi Arabia, instead of abolishing witch hunts, they’ve created a government-run Anti-Witchcraft Unit specifically designed to hunt and prosecute suspected witches.

The irony of our own female president honouring a Saudi prince from the Saud family when back in Saudi she would not even be able to drive her own car without arrest without charge, intimidation of her family and public humiliation.
They always befriend the worst regimes in the world, because their mentality is the same. Saying it is shameful doesn’t begin to show how disgusted I am.
