The police sergeant held on remand is Cyrus Engerer’s first cousin
I think some newspaper needs to ring Cyrus Engerer for a comment. I have just tried – the number is 7928 1981 – but he’s not picking up.
When Cyrus Engerer’s father, a small-time drug-dealer for many years, was picked up by the police yet again before March 2013, Cyrus and his friend Joseph Muscat made the biggest possible fuss about it, claiming that Chris Engerer had been targeted because his son had ‘resigned’ from the Nationalist Party.
His son hadn’t resigned from the Nationalist Party. He had been removed when the party bosses discovered he was facing criminal prosecution on ‘revenge porn’ charges.
And if Joseph Muscat were from Sliema and not from Burmarrad (and if he weren’t so false, because he must have checked Chris Engerer’s background and record with the police) he would have known that this total loser has been dealing since the 1970s, which is how he supported his own drug habit given that he never worked bar running a summer shack on the beach at Exiles.
Far from the PN government targetting him, they actually let him take out a lease on the public land on which that beach shack is built, and never chased him for the rent. He owes tens of thousands and the likelihood that this government is chasing him for it is minimal.
Cyrus Engerer’s cousin Karl Engerer has also been given a job at Dar Malta – funny how lots of people missed this – because he complained that he was discriminated against by the previous government and that’s why he didn’t get a job there.
But now Cyrus and his friend Joseph are in a bit of a fix with this false argument of theirs. Now, Joseph’s police have arraigned Cyrus’s cousin Lee Roy Balzan Engerer on charges of hiding evidence to pervert the course of justice. He is currently in prison, the court having denied him bail because of the seriousness of the charges.
Lee Roy’s mother and Cyrus’s father Chris (the small-time drug-dealer) are brother and sister. Are Cyrus and his buddy Joseph now going to hold a press conference to say that the government is targetting members of Cyrus’s family to get at Cyrus?

Chris Engerer runs Exiles on sub-lease from the Civil Service Sports Club who own the Government lease. At one time he was sub-let both Exiles and the bar at the sports club on Palace Square. These go back to at least the early 1990s.

here’s some more interesting info for you Daphne…as you well know, there was also a Police Inspector involved, one who is currently on forced leave due to tempering with evidence on the crime scene…..he was not the district inspector so why did he get involved, and more importantly, why wasn’t he arraigned like Serg. Engerer? Was it maybe because his sister (the Inspector’s) is the partner of Paul Sheehan? surprise surprise….what a tangled web we weave…gawdi issa poplu GAHAN!

The Engerer family is a very big one.
Cyrus’s and Lee Roy’s used to be called ta’ Doddy and they lived at 106 St. Trophimus Street, Sliema.
As you said, Cyrus and Le Roy are cousins.
The Engerer family didn’t want Lee Roy’s mother Caroline to marry Balzan who is Lee Roy’s father, hence Lee Roy’s surname Balzan Engerer – because they considered him a hamallu.
However Caroline still married Balzan whose first name I cannot remember.
Id-Doddy and his entire family used to canvass for Michael Refalo and thanks to him, many of the Engerers were given jobs with various government departments over the years. Lee Roy’s father was employed as a messenger with the Minister of Tourism, then in Republic Street, Valletta.
Balzan, used to support the Malta Labour Party but because of his marriage to one of the Engerers together with the job he was given (he was illiterate) he said he voted for the Nationalist Party.
Lee Roy’s parents have been separated for a very long time for reasons unknown to me.
After many years of canvassing for Michael Refalo they turned on to Francis Zammit Dimech. Since they are a numerous family, together with their close friends, both Michael Refalo and Francis Zammit Dimech needed them in order to acquire their votes.
Caroline’s brother Albert, who died about two years ago, was very popular and charismatic and managed to persuade many people to vote for both those mentioned before. No wonder they got whatever they wanted from the government.

Sergeant Lee Roy Balzan Engerer stands accused of deleting part of the police arrest report.
That is because his accusers don’t have the courage, decency and honesty to say that the real reason for his arrest is that they suspect him of leaking information to the media.
This is disgraceful.
And Times of Malta’s law report conveniently left the Engerer surname out.
