Posted by Joe Psaila Savona:
Twenty-eight years ago, a warning shot claimed the life of an innocent bystander.
—————————
That one-liner was the comment. Now this that follows is mine.
I should add that Raymond Caruana was just 25 when he was killed by a ‘warning shot’. The minister’s driver suspected in that case – based on evidence from his friend Gianni l-Pupa who was there too – was Karmenu Vella’s.
The police then acquired the machine gun used for the ‘warning shots’ and, instead of arresting the person who had it, they staged a raid on a farmyard owned by a completely innocent man, and planted the gun there.
They arrested the man on whom they had planted evidence, and he collapsed. When he was taken to hospital, he was put in a room alone on an upper floor with a view to murdering him at night by throwing him out of the window and then claiming that he had committed suicide.
A massive campaign – for those days – began in the press with people taking out paid advertisements in their name to declare that they believed this man to be innocent.
The trial fell through.
And Manuel Mallia probably thinks he can and will survive this one because after all Karmenu Vella is EU Commissioner in Brussels and got the PN vote even though his driver, when he was a minister in the Golden Years, was suspected of shooting and killing Raymond Caruana.

The difference is that 28 years ago they had their guns aimed on the PN and its supporters.
Today the guns are on the streets in the hands of criminals who do not want ‘political power’ alone but gang power and territory for their criminal activity.
So true.
What a short but devastatingly true comment.
However, the similarities do not stop there. This time, as 28 years ago, the ‘warning shot’ was followed by an attempt at a frame-up followed by an attempt at a cover-up, followed by another cover-up to cover up the first failed cover-up.
What we have today that we did not have 28 years ago were smart-phones, lap-tops and instant news. But it seems that new Labour has not realised this.
There is no new Labour.
Well said, Joe. That’s that’s the Botom line.
The fire from a machine gun that took place at Tarxien on the 1st December 1986, were warning shots because luckily no one was hit.
They were warning shots for us not to vote Labour.
We are now 28 years wiser. Let the utmost be done to avoid any repeat of such situations.
The PN needs to be all eyes and ears and leave nothing to chance.
We are definitely not 28 years wiser. Otherwise we would not have put these people into power.
The brutality of Labour during the 1980s emerged and reared its head gradually. In 2013, the MLP hit the ground running by being brutal and violent almost from day 1.
What do you mean by 28 years wiser? If we had been wise we would not have voted in these pimps.
I still say that many of us are 28 years wiser, and others are now 2 years wiser, unfortunately fools will never be even one day wiser.
I put my hopes on the first two categories.
Maltarightnow uploaded the four Sheehan to Control Room calls all made in the first few minutes and he repeatedly, once, twice, three times, ad nauseam, makes it very clear that he, Sheehan, fired shots at the other driver.
But an hour later, they got to him and made him act out the Zammit/Kurt/Sheehan warning shots script and made sure that it was recorded.
There was no reason to put that through the Control Room phones, that is unless they needed insurance cover for the cover up. Buffoons and clowns, to think we are idiots.
Short, True and Powerful.
Karmenu Farrugia’s nickname was il-Botom. His daughter, Julia Farrugia, was editor of Saviour Balzan’s Illum until she got one of those Taghna Lkoll appointments that provide lots of freebies for zero work.
Incidentally, why has Saviour Balzan never covered those Taghna Lkoll appointments? Julia Farrugia is perfectly placed to provide lots of insider detail.
Soon we will be having resignations a la Joseph. Anyone asked to resign will be given a top post possibly in Brussels with a hefty pay and allowance within 30 days.
Paul Sheehan for xufier ta’ Karmenu Vella.
Why aren’t we in the streets demanding the resignation of these people, if not the government?
Why have we become a nation of keyboard warriors instead?
What does it take to realize that our country is in the grip of terror?
Terrorism is not only blowing up buildings, cars and people but also through stealth. Terrorism by stealth is the wholesale takeover of institutions by the mob who are happily dismantling the democratic values that make us a nation.
Why are we so complacent about it? When will we wake up?
And Gianni il-Pupa got involved in the prayer meeting scene and revealed some secrets…then he conveniently “fell” off a roof in Birzebbuga while being ‘chased by police’.
Just been on Times of Malta and listened to the 4th recording. Please someone tell me that the bagpipes in the background have been inserted as a prank and are not the depot’s own recorded background music.
[Daphne – You should have heard it here first, and then you’d have had your answer: http://daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2014/12/yet-another-recording-is-out-start-his-car-because-its-got-bullets-in-it/ ]
Gianni l-Pupa was ‘eliminated’ during Labour’s rule between 1996-1998.
Switchers – who were propelled only by greed for personal gain ,and who did know better , should be hanged , drawn and quartered .
We are not wiser since for political mileage the true perpetrator never went on trial,
That frame-up was most vile. KMB should have been tried in court, even if acquitted. He would have experienced being in the dock. Zibel ta’ prim ministru.
Seems that Labour drivers have always had a penchant for warning shots.
