Yesterday in court

Here are some points from the compilation of evidence in the case against Paul Sheehan, in court yesterday:

1. It was drug squad inspector Gabriel Micallef who drove the car onto the lorry so that it could be removed from the scene immediately. Micallef was not on duty that night. His sister is in a relationship with Sheehan.

2. Micallef has been investigated for tampering with evidence but has not been charged (compare with Sergeant Lee Roy Balzan).

3. Assistant Police Commissioner Sandro Zarb, who had been ordered to investigate the scene that night, testified that when he got there, Smith’s car was already on the lorry and about to be taken away. But he immediately noticed that there were two bullet-holes in it, one just beneath the tail-light and another just above the rear windscreen.

4. He dispatched two police officers to look for the spent cartridges, but they couldn’t find them (it now occurs to me that they might have been looking in the wrong place, if they went on what Sheehan told them that night).

5. He said that Sheehan was “in a state of panic” and that the car’s GM plates had been removed and placed in the car-boot.

A dirty family affair discrediting our government and our Police force.

    Did someone cry “foul”?

At no point in time was Paul Sheenan noticed to be in a state of panic. He seemed to be collected during the footage and very coherent during the various telephone calls.

Is Inspector Gabriel Micallef on forced leave or is he still performing his duties? If he is on forced leave what was he doing in Court this week?

‘Assistant Police Commissioner Sandro Zarb, who had been ordered to investigate the scene that night, testified that when he got there, Smith’s car was already on the lorry and about to be taken away.’

How was Gabriel Micallef on the scene so quickly?

Had he actually been with Paul Sheehan throughout the incident?

Next question. Why was he there?

If there was only a one seat majority, the government would have fallen. Just because of one employee the minister had to resign. But is this fair?

[Daphne – Yes. He wasn’t ‘just one employee’, either. This wasn’t a desk clerk caught pilfering.]

Well it seems you saw it fair when Franco Debono was that ‘bad employee’.

Mallia was not made to resign because his employee shot at Smith, but because he issued a deceitful press release when he knew the truth was otherwise.

Even by giving him the benefit of the doubt that at the time he did not know that the shots were aimed at Smith, Mallia should have immediately requested keychain Kurt Farrugia to correct the previous press release. OK, siehbi?
