Godwin Sant is part of Konrad Mizzi’s private secretariat

The Malta Independent is running a good story today about Godwin Sant, the man suspended by the government from his duties last Sunday morning when Malta Today published a story saying that he had accepted two football tickets from oil company Trafigura, with arrangements made by George Farrugia, who is under state immunity from prosecution.

Godwin Sant was handpicked by Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi for his private secretariat. He was part of the minister’s private secretariat when he was suspended last Sunday.

When Konrad Mizzi set up the Sustainable Energy and Water Conservation Unit, he picked Sant to head it, as chief executive officer.

How on earth did Malta Today miss this salient fact?

If only he manages to get a criminal conviction for receiving the match tickets. Then they can handpick him for a cushy job in Brussels instead.

Interesting to find out why such a trusted, handpicked person was suddenly cut loose.
