If it were Arriva, the name would be in the heading

There are lots of disadvantages to having a short and easy name, and plenty of advantages to having a long tongue-twister of a name. This especially when you are providing a public bus service in Malta.
Three years ago, the name ARRIVA would have been in that heading where the word ‘bus’ is now. But NEW AUTOBUSES DE LEON BUSES HIT FIRST BUMP doesn’t work, does it. So the name goes into the main text instead.

AUTOBUSES DE LEON is a mouthful, but knowing how much the Maltese rely on nicknames we’ll soon be getting a short version of it.
I here suggest the first one: TAL-ILJUN
“Hola” buses.
I wouldn’t be too worried if I were UHM top brass.
Seeing that Transport Malta are involved, the meeting between ADL and GWU is only a perception.
They do have a short name, ALESA, and Maltese newspapers are well aware of it but for some ‘strange’ reason it is not being used.
I only realized this a few weeks ago and immediately wondered why the government also avoided using it. Then the penny dropped.

How come the buses in Gozo are still showing the Arriva livery?
Gozo is a republic.
How about ADL?
“Tal-Manjana” and I suggested this before we learnt that it was a “soft launch”.
