UPDATED: Hunters rip off photograph from Translators USA

Published: February 1, 2015 at 9:46am

They wanted the ‘good clean-living American look’ for their call for volunteers, because a bunch of unshaven middle-aged Maltese men in their camouflage get-ups and carrying a gun just wouldn’t have voter appeal.

UPDATE: The photograph is an ‘American/Scandi’ look stock photo.

  1. Lizz says:

You could say they are ‘lost in translation’. So ironic.

  2. silvio says:

If these people really mean business they should first start. by boycotting Bishop Scicluna.

[Daphne – How do you boycott a bishop, Mr Loporto?]

    • Tom Double Thumb says:

Mr Loporto, am I wrong in concluding that you are the sort who has been boycotting the bishop for quite some time?

Now be honest and tell us what long-term benefit you have gained for yourself and others by that.

And would (or did) the bishop even notice your boycott?

Of course, being a good shepherd and practising his Christian beliefs, he prays for the lost sheep or those that have joined other flocks. His actions put not the slightest pressure on you.

    • Wilson says:

Boycott a Bishop? You must be another one living in lala-land.

    • etil says:

Of all the stupid comments yours takes first.

    • silvio says:

You surprise me,.I always thought you knew everything on anything.

One could start by breaking a Bishops heart by going against his wishes and vote yes for divorce.
      .

Wasn’t that more important than shooting down a few birds?

I still don’t see the difference from putting a bullet to a Bull’s head, or a pig and cutting the neck, of a chicken.

Some would be tempted to say “but those are for eating””
What do you think hunters do with the turtle doves and quail that they catch?
I have never come across a hunter who throws away these birds.
Hunting is nothing but a way of culling,
Can you imagne the amount of these birds there would have been if this were not culled over the last hundreds of years.

It would have been quite an achievment for one to return home not covered in bird shit.

      • Rumplestiltskin says:

Loporto, have you heard of ‘conservation?’ That is the main reason for stopping hunting in spring. Cows and chickens don’t come into the equation.

      • Tom Double Thumb says:

It would be unfair to start awarding a prize for the stupidest, most illogical and absurd comment of the Year. Mr Loporto or Silvio or whatever name he goes by would win it hands down year after year.

  3. Antoine Vella says:

This is actually a stock photo, used on many websites. But it is so inappropriate for a hunting advert.

  4. a montebello says:

Its actually a stock photo (which I’ll bet they didn’t pay for), and looks nothing like Maltese people, which means it should serve to alienate rather than associate.

  5. Roby says:

The FKNK already started the campaign on the wrong foot as they did not find local volunteers to pose for this poster let alone will find further volunteers to back up their campaign

  6. Carrie Erbag says:

Have the FKNK potentially breached copyright laws too?

  7. Mila says:

Aren’t we repeatedly being told that hunters are not poachers? Did they get permission to use this photo?

  8. H.P. Baxxter says:

There’s a couple of cracking birds in there. I think I’m joining FKNK. Namur jew intajru, what?

  9. Natalie says:

These people approach the making of a flyer in the same way that a schoolboy would: type in whatever you’re looking for in the image search box on Google and use the first picture you like.

I’m sure they never thought of paying for the use of that picture in their poster (even though it’s hopelessly unrealistic to what real hunter supporters look like).
