Michael Falzon should have come clean in 1987

Please read my column in The Malta Independent today – I have written it going along with the facts, such as they are, which Michael Falzon set out in his statement to all media yesterday afternoon.

I am assuming that he was not lying, but at this stage, that is only an assumption made for the purposes of this article. Experience should teach us that those who lied (by omission) for years, including to some of the people who trusted them most, will carry on doing the same even when the context shifts.

They will come clean on the bare minimum when they are left with no choice but to do that, and then lie about the crucial details which they hope ‘the others’ won’t have a hope in hell of discovering, to carry right on protecting themselves and their interests.
