Now that he has a chauffeur, what happens to Luciano Busuttil’s ‘transport allowance’

Luciano Busuttil’s many perks and allowances include a ‘transport allowance’ of Eur4,600 a year. Now that he has a full-time state-funded chauffeur through the Malta Sports Council, will his transport allowance be cut or pulled altogether?
We need some more details here: does the state-funded chauffeur include petrol, or does the petrol come out of his transport allowance? Who funds the car the chauffeur drives?

Daphne, there is also the President of the Law Commission who has a state paid car and a full time chauffeur.
Where is the President of the Law Commission going to park now, once Ordnance Street is handed over to the stallholders?
In one of the market stalls, perhaps – they do look like cages.
Wot a pwetty foto of two ………..
Now I understand why the people elect representatives of themselves.
Smiling all the way to the bank.
Just to clarify: under the previous administration this transport allowance of 4,600 euros was payable to senior staff in ministerial secretariats in cases where their work required a fair amount of travel.
Officers receiving this allowance were expected to use their own cars and pay their own fuel, hence the all-inclusive allowance.
However, top secretariat posts at scale 3 and above (as per the Public Service salary grade structure) were entitled to the use of an official car (NOT a driver) and therefore did not receive this transport allowance. It as either/or.
Well give his transport allowance to the National Archives and over the 5 years that’s nearly the amount they are looking for
