The New York Times: ‘Europe is having a distress sale on visas’

‘Distress sale’ is the term used in the United States when a company sells off all its stock, or a household all its contents, at very low prices because of financial distress or impending bankruptcy.

    The passport salesman is busy at the moment telling others what to do while keeping his hands firmly in his pocket.

    “We cannot have the cake and eat it, by staying put and expecting the situation to improve,” he said when interviewed on One Radio.”

    Apparently he thinks that Malta is entitled to have the cake and eat it however because as Muscat is fond of reminding everyone, our neutrality clause does not permit us to do anything except promote peace. He is now saying that Malta will give logistic(al) support.

    ”He remarked that as a neutral state we will be doing our part to promote peace, and can contribute in UN-backed missions. He said that this would be in the form of logistic support.”

    Does this mean that Malta has joined the coalition or not?

    Is this another sitting on the fence antic by Muscat?
