Dalli scamming victim responds to The Malta Independent story about John Dalli and Tyre Ltd

A victim of Tyre Ltd’s scamming operations – Regina L. Hayes – has commented in response to The Malta Independent’s story yesterday about John Dalli’s involvement with the company.

Ms Hayes says that she is a “southern Christian” (a Christian from the American South) whose life savings were taken by the company. Tyre Ltd poses as a charitable operation which invests money in good works the world over, but in reality cheats the devout and gullible to get hold of their money.

Ms Hayes says that she has just written to “Claire” – this is Claire Gauci Borda, one of John Dalli’s daughters, who was a director of Tyre Ltd and who booked the villa in the Bahamas under the company name when she and her father famously went there in the summer of 2012.

Mrs Gauci Borda gave her some sob story about how she and her father John Dalli have been forced to move out of their Portomaso offices because of “the financial devastation wreaked upon them”, and how she has not been able to sort out the matter of Ms Hayes’s embezzled life savings because she has been too busy moving out all of her and her father’s archives from the Portomaso offices so that she can work at home.

Tyre Ltd is the company used by international fraudster Mary Swan, who is a client of John Dalli & Associates. Mary Swan and her brother – two elderly and innocuous-looking people – are Americans who use a series of false passports and identities to travel the world cheating people by pretending to run a charity that helps children in Africa and India. Their top story is that they operate gold mines, the profit of which goes to building homes for orphaned children.

Up until around 18 months ago, they were operating out of a flat in Sliema’s High Street. Visitors to the flat confirmed to me that the interior featured large photographs of bags of gold nuggets and descriptions of gold-mining operations.

I had written extensively about Tyre Ltd, Mary Swan, the Bahamas visits and their connections with John Dalli and his daughter Claire Gauci Borda. A search on this site should bring most of it up.

I had even been sent, by a source, a scan of the false The Philippines passport used by Mary Swan under a fraudulent identity, and her Maltese mobile telephone numbers. Ms Swan picked up, but immediately rang off without a word when I asked her whether she is Mary Swan. Nobody replied when I rang the intercom at her Sliema flat on repeated occasions.

Last January I received an email from the source who had sent me Ms Swan’s passport-scan, telling me “Mary Swan is about to leave Malta”.
