George Abela said on radio today that Police Commissioner John Rizzo went to him with the Attorney-General and said that the police needed George Farrugia’s evidence (in the Trafigura oil bribery case), and that for this to happen, Farrugia would have to be granted immunity from prosecution.

Abela said he agreed. “Those who wanted the truth to emerge will know that granting him immunity from prosecution was the right decision,” the former head of state, who granted the immunity, said.

It is quite clear what he is saying here: that those who want George Farrugia’s immunity from prosecution lifted are the ones who don’t want the facts to be revealed by his testimony.
