Minister Chris Cardona goes off-message and gives his boss’s game away
While the prime minister is busy trying to convince us that he gave almost four and a half million euros to Cities Entertainment Ltd because there was no other option and because he wanted to save the National Library from exploding gas cylinders which were never there anyway (they’re banned under the lease agreement), Economy Minister Chris Cardona has spoken to The Malta Independent and given the game away.
It was all about “offering assistance” – yes, offering assistance to Mario Camilleri, who had bled Cities Entertainment Ltd dry and then turned to Joseph Muscat to pick up the tab using other people’s money.
This is not the first time Chris Cardona has gone off-message to shaft his boss. The first time was when they were all trying to pull together to stave off the press when the news about Mrs Konrad Mizzi’s contract first broke – and he walked over to the press microphones and said that he had nothing to do with that contract, that he was not involved at all, and that he knew nothing about it.
And this even though he was Minister responsible for Malta Enterprise and Mrs Mizzi’s contract was with Malta Enterprise.
