Not the best week for Malta

All we needed was the prime minister’s Sherpa, who is serving out a suspended prison sentence, bickering with everybody publicly on Facebook and making himself and his boss (and his country) the subject of even greater Brussels gossip among the Eurocrats.

No, the Maltese are not all mad, perverted, vile, greedy and corrupt (but we’re getting there).

And it doesn’t help, either, having Ray ‘from washing bedpans to MC-ing Labour mass meetings’ Azzopardi as our ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium. Or Rodney ‘I got the job because I have sex with Cyrus Engerer’ Debattista/De Battista in the post of chef de cabinet to perm rep Marlene Bonnici.

What a stinking mess.

And as a postscript, women who sleep their way into jobs and top positions are pilloried and dismissed as scummy whores, but gay men who do the same are celebrated and people are afraid to say the obvious lest they be thought of as not politically correct.

People who get their jobs through sex are always whores, whether they are women or men, gay or straight.
