Clint Camilleri, the (Labour) mayor of Qala and failed (Labour) European Parliament candidate, said on Xarabank tonight that “Bart University will be investing 200 million euros in Gozo”.

Bart University, just like Bart Simpson. And that’s quite apart from the fact that Queen Mary University will be doing no such thing.

This website revealed yesterday that the money for the refurbishment of Gozo General Hospital, and the building of a new wing there, will come from Oxley Capital Group of Singapore.

And the sum to be spent there is not 200 million euros. That figure covers the refurbishment of St Luke’s Hospital too. But I have not yet been able to ascertain whether Oxley Capital Group is doing that as well, because 30 hours later the prime minister’s chief of communications, Kurt Farrugia, still has not answered the message I sent him, which says:

Kurt, I’m told that investment in Gozo hospital will be made by Oxley Capital Group of Singapore. Is this correct? Daphne

If my information were not correct, he would have replied immediately. He hasn’t replied because he’s not allowed to say ‘Yes’, given that the government is planning on issuing a call for expressions of interest next week even though – just as with the power station – they have struck a deal already.
