Queens Mary, the prime minister and Norma Saliba

In his excitement to break the news that isn’t news at all (read my column in The Malta Independent tomorrow), the prime minister spoke repeatedly about “investment by Queens Mary Hospital” and “Queens Mary University”.

That cabbage Norma Saliba, who suddenly discovered a vocation as a journalist that had been dormant for 20+ years,and was made a Taghna Lkoll recruit to the TVM newsroom post March 2013 (her boyfriend Manuel Micallef runs the Labour Party television station), covered the big news.

Throughout her ‘rapportagg’ for the evening news bulletin on TVM, she did exactly what the prime minister did and talked about “Queens Mary” – which means that the tool didn’t bother doing any research at all before writing her report, not even Googling the institution, but merely repeated what the prime minister said, mistakes and all.

It’s Queen Mary University, not Queens Mary University and not Queens Mary Hospital. Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry form part of Queen Mary University.

Queens is a borough of New York City.
