Given the assault of information and confusion, I think it best to spell things out.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists only works with official media partners the world over. It does not give information or grant access to its data base except to its official media partners, on signature of a very strict contract.

Official media partners cannot be individual journalists or operators, but news organisations/newspapers. The only official media partner of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists in Malta is The Malta Independent. It is only The Malta Independent which has access to the Swiss Leaks database.

It therefore follows that if any other newspaper, news organization or journalist who does not work for that newspaper acquires and publishes any data from Swiss Leaks, it/she/he can only have obtained it from the (Maltese) government in breach of Maltese and European legislation.
