‘Gay Weddings Malta’

I thought the whole point of same-sex marriage (known as civil unions under a separate law) is that homosexual couples want to feel no different to heterosexual couples.
Why, then, is there is now an outfit – I think it is a commercial one – calling itself Gay Weddings Malta?
Does it really make so much a difference to the proceedings of a marriage ceremony if the couple are two men or two women, rather than a man and a woman, that it should need special organisation?
