Search-for-Sai Campaign: the phantom Malta Consul and Visa Application Centre in Shanghai

Shanghai’s official list of foreign consuls, published on the internet, includes Sai Mizzi as Malta consul and a Maltese consulate, with an address but no phone number, that opened last September.

VFS Global – the company which outsources for diplomatic missions – has on its web-portal an announcement that the Malta Visa Application Centre opened in Shanghai on the first of this month, but gives no address or contact details.

Yesterday, a member of my international worldwide network of spies (in Shanghai) rang the Shanghai info line 114 to ask for the number of the Malta visa office in the city.

She was given the telephone number of the Austrian Consulate in Shanghai and told that the Austrian consulate accepts visa applications for Malta.
