The British Trust for Ornithology has a project on, which costs many thousands and depends on the resources of many volunteers, to monitor the migration of cuckoos as we know very little about them.
It seeks to track migrating cuckoos between the UK and Africa because half of the UK’s cuckoo population has been lost over the last 20 years. For the last four years, the British Trust for Ornithology has been satellite-tracking cuckoos to find out why.
