Ex Police Commissioner Peter Paul Zammit replies to earlier story
He was not in court as defence counsel to Josmar Agius, he writes, but representing himself ‘parte civile’, which means as an interested party.
I am happy to set the record straight, but take exception to all his other remarks. After all, this is somebody who accepted to made police commissioner, when he was not even a police officer at the time, through abuse of the system and for a very corrupt purpose.
From Peter Paul Zammit:
It pains me when journalists fall all over themselves with a scoop which turns out sour, but it pains me more when journalists intentionally misguide their readers and followers. I was not defending Mr. Agius, he had his two lawyers there. I was Parte Civile, requested in open court and accepted in open court. I was there to defend my reputation from those hiding behind parliamentary and journalistic privileges. The truth – somewhat stranger than fiction – will surface and then a few people will have to loose their cozy seats and jobs. I needed not (and still do not need) government employment, I am here to do a job entrusted to me at an earning much lower than previously possible. Others are not so fortunate as to have multiple lucrative work opportunities. Their loss not mine. Just apologize to your readers and get it over and done with.
