Is the prime minister going for the Reggie and Ronnie Kray look or what?

The prime minister has taken to appearing in public and being photographed in the company of, or proximity to, very young men with a certain kind of look about them.

I looked at this photograph, which oddly enough is on the Malta Developers Association Facebook page, and immediately thought: Reggie and Ronnie Kray. Those young men are straight out of early-60s gangster London, and the quiff on one of them is quite impressive.

The Kray twins surrounded themselves with slightly effeminate men of a certain demeanour for two reasons: the overall effect was menacing, and they were gay.

Other gangsters appeared in public with young women hanging off their arms. Reggie and Ronnie Kray appeared with skinny, slick Cockney boys that were taken for an entourage of fixers and fighters, but who were decorative as well as serving that purpose.

What were those two fancy young men doing at an event organised by the Malta Developers Association anyway – are they Malta’s youngest property developers?

We know what Civil Rights Minister Helena Dalli was doing there – she owns a property development company.
