Man at contract signing works in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, developing “educational projects”
DePaul University’s communications office is answering all enquiries about its own involvement in the Malta ‘university’ project.
But it is directing questions about the American University of Malta and Sadeen Education Investment Ltd to “the spokesperson for Sadeen Education Investment, Dr. Naser Zayyat…with copy to legal counsel Advocate Louai Twal”, giving contact details for both.
The first thing I did was look up Naser Zayyat’s Facebook page so as to be able to work out which one he is in the line-up at the contract-signing ceremony at the Auberge de Castille last Tuesday.
Louai Twal isn’t on Facebook, but I found his picture on LinkedIn.
So, in the photograph taken when the contract was signed, Louai Twal is ringed in red, Naser Zayyat is ringed in dark blue, and just to refresh your memory, the man ringed in green is a Palestinian immigration consultant based in Canada, Thaer Mukbel.
Louai Twal is a Jordanian lawyer. Naser Zayyat is also Jordanian, but since 2012 he has been a director of the Saudi consultancy Dor Alhikmah, with a brief to develop new educational projects for and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This information comes from his LinkedIn profile.
Naser Zayyat acquired his doctorate from ‘The Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences’. This is a private, for-profit outfit in Jordan. Its website is entirely in Arabic.
Until 2012, when he left for Saudi, Zayyat lists himself as having been an assistant professor at the ‘Applied Science University’ in Jordan. Concurrently, he lists himself as having been a lecturer at DePaul University.
