Memo to the Opposition: stop allowing Muscat to involve you in his problematic projects
Once again, exasperatingly, the Nationalist Party has made the same error of strategy: allowing Joseph Muscat and his government to embroil it in his projects and his problems, as though it is somehow involved.
How on earth has the Opposition allowed itself to be manouevred into a position where it has ended up suggesting alternative sites for Hani Hasan Naji Al Salah’s ‘business college’ for students from the Gulf States? This is the government’s project and the government’s problem. Let the government deal with it.
The minute you begin suggesting sites you’re part of it, and involved. You’ve allowed the buck to be passed to you.
And beyond that, there are serious reasons other than the site or the environment for scrutinising this ‘business college’ and objecting to it. Pretty soon, it’s going to become obvious even to the Opposition that the location of the pseudo-university is a minor detail compared to the reasons why this pseudo-university is going to be built in the first place, and the consequences of it.
