COURT DETAILS

The case which the Libyan government has filed against the unknown heirs of Mutassim Gaddafi, for the return of the money which the latter held in accounts at the Bank of Valletta – the money is still there, frozen – is being heard by Malta Labour Party activist and longtime editor of the Labour Party’s official newspaper KullHadd, Judge Wenzu Mintoff.

Mutassim Gaddafi’s accountant, financial services consultant, and also company director is Joe Sammut, former treasurer of the Malta Labour Party, who is a main witness in the case.

Former Labour Party general election candidate Simon Micallef Stafrace is one of the two curators appointed by the court to represent the unknown heirs of Mutassim Gaddafi.

The most recent hearing of the case was on the 6th of this month. The next hearing will be on 19th June – case number 814/14, presiding judge Wenzu Mintoff. Newsrooms, take note, because they’ve obviously been trying to keep the whole thing quiet.
