Sadeen Education Investment Ltd, the company which DePaul University has told the press is solely responsible for the American University of Malta, turns out to be a Malta-registered company which is 100% owned PERSONALLY (and not through the Sadeen Group) by Hani Hasan N Salah, CEO of the Jordanian hotel development and construction company, the Sadeen Group.

More shadily still, the company was incorporated on 11 June last year, which means that the government of Malta had already reached a deal with Hani Hasan N Salah by then.

At which point exactly was this deal concluded? In June 2014, he knew he had it in the bag, which is why his company was incorporated. That was also when his hotel, Sadeen Hotel in Amman, bought and registered the domain name for the American University of Malta (aumalta.com).

Company details from the registry at the Malta Financial Services Authority follow.

Hani Hasan N Salah: Sadeen Education Investment Ltd, which will own the American University of Malta and have rights over the land on which it is built, is 100% owned by him personally. There are no other shareholders.
