Taghna Lkoll news: Joe Cuschieri and Paul Fenech at the Lotteries and Gaming Authority

Published: May 17, 2015 at 11:42am

Back in January 2011, The Times covered a cute story about two best friends called Joe Cuschieri and Paul Fenech who had first met 22 years earlier when one of them needed help on the road and the other towed his car to Hal Ghaxaq.

They entered the story in a Facebook competition and won an all-expenses-paid trip to Australia for the two of them.

Very sweet.

Fast forward two years to 2013 and Joe Cuschieri’s wife is now the foreign minister’s daughter. Cuschieri leaves his job at Vodafone Malta for a Taghna Lkoll appointment: executive chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

And then he sneaks his best friend in as chief information officer – you know, in a completely transparent process because this is the most transparent government ever in the history of Malta – and nobody notices because by now, everyone’s forgotten that story in The Times about the two best friends, the Facebook competition and the trip they won to Australia, even if they ever registered it in the first place.

All together now: Malta Taghna Lkoll.

Just what I thought: they must have got all those votes on Facebook because those voting took them for a gay couple.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

Oh, so they’re two of these metrosexual men who take unwittingly gay photographs. I mean who in God’s name sits on the arm rest wearing a jumper?

Are there no straight men left on this benighted island?

    • Kenneth Howard Haber says:

      Those jerseys are highly suspect.

If I were Mrs Joe Cuschieri, I’d take proper note of chief legal officer Edwina Licari’s body language in this photograph.
