Transparency update: what our government hasn’t told us, we find out from the overseas press (usually in the Far East)

There’s a story in The Straits Times today that gives important information about what our government is up to, which our government hasn’t bothered to tell us about itself.

It’s a breaking news story – Digiland International made the announcement today about a joint venture with Malta Enterprise. Malta Enterprise has announced nothing and probably doesn’t plan to. Our prime minister is silent, and the minister responsible for Malta Enterprise, Chris Cardona, is busy defending the pecuniary interests of Hani Hasan Naji Al Salah. And Malta Enterprise, as the whole of Malta knows by now, gave the energy minister’s wife a massive contract enmeshed in secrecy and about as transparent as a nun’s bloomers.

The Straits Times is Singapore’s main newspaper.

DIGILAND SUBSIDIARY FORMS JV TO DEVELOP MALTA INTO ENERGY TRADING HUB

Monday, 18 May 2015

SINGAPORE – Mainboard-listed Digiland International announced on Monday that a subsidiary has entered into a joint venture to develop Malta into a trading hub for energy products between Europe and Asia. Malta, a member of the European Union, is a small country that sits strategically along the main Mediterranean trading routes.

Digiland said its wholly owned subsidiary, International Energy Group (IEG), through its newly formed European subsidiary, New Silkroutes Group, has incorporated a joint venture company, IEG Malta, with the Malta Enterprise Corporation (MEC). MEC is the Maltese government’s exclusive agency focused on attracting inward investment and supporting enterprise in Malta.
