What was Sandro Chetcuti doing at the signing of the ‘American university’ contract?
Sandro Chetcuti of the Malta Developers Association was among the guests at the ceremony for the signing of the contract between Hani Hasan Naji Salah and the government of Malta at the Auberge de Castille last Tuesday.
He was caught by the One TV camera and that’s where this screen-shot comes from. You’d have thought that the assembled press, having seen him there, would have thought this worthy of note in their reports of the event.
They could even have asked him what he was doing there. News journalists need to have the instinct of a police detective. The two jobs are not that different, except that one deals only with crime. If you don’t have that instinct, don’t bother in the first place.
Sometimes you’ll get it wrong, sometimes you’ll draw a blank, sometimes you’ll feel a little stupid, but sometimes, you’ll strike information gold, when your instinct was right and the ends begin coming together. And that’s why you do the job.
Sandro Chetcuti: there’s a rat to be smelled right there. But we have to work out where and what that particular rat is.
