Army free to build concrete bunker without planning approval
Planning laws make the army exempt from seeking and obtaining planning approval for constructions which it seems necessary to its operations.
Once again, the corrupt Taghna Lkoll attitude uses a normal exemption in the law – in this case designed to ensure that the army is not hampered in cases of real national emergency – as a loophole for abuse.
The concrete bunker going up on Hay Wharf has drawn the ire of environment groups, ordinary citizens and not least, the many parents and young children whose popular Vikings Young Sailors Club was thrown out of Hay Wharf to make way for the abusively-promoted Brigadier Jeffrey Curmi – four promotions through the ranks in as many weeks by the sleazy Army Minister Manuel Mallia – to build his version of a Soviet-era stronghold.
The environment groups are furious.
