Clint Scerri badgers Malta Tourism Authority for Gaffarena licence

I can report this morning that Clint Scerri, the now-infamous member of Michael Falzon’s private secretariat, has been badgering the Malta Tourism Authority for kiosk licence for Marco Gaffarena.

Gaffarena wants to construct and either lease or operate directly a kiosk in the square outside Spinola Palace, across the street from Wembley Garage on the approach to the Hilton and Portomaso.

For this, he requires a licence from the Malta Tourism Authority. He clearly already has what is required from the Lands (“Lents”) Department thanks to Clint and Clint’s political bosses.

I am informed by sources at the Malta Tourism Authority that Clint Scerri goes there repeatedly, chasing up the kiosk licence and exerting political pressure on members of staff, all in the service of Marco Gaffarena.

If you were in any doubt that Scerri is in Marco Gaffarena’s pay – and that is real corruption – then this should dispel those doubts.

This, of course, does not mean that there aren’t more senior people involved. Of course they are. Clint Scerri wouldn’t have been able to do all this without Richard Dimech’s and Michael Falzon’s go-ahead.
