The prime minister’s special envoy reflects really badly on the prime minister

Those of you who are shocked at the behaviour of the prime minister’s special envoy should pause briefly to wonder what he must have been like with the unrestricted authority of a cabinet minister in a lawless state.
And then have a fleeting moment of horrified compassion for those of us who had no choice but to live through it.
If Malta had not been, at least nominally, a parliamentary democracy, come the revolution – rather than a general election – Joe Grima and his henchmen would have been imprisoned, shot or hanged like their despotic, tyrannical and corrupt cronies in the world’s most despotic regimes just two or three years later.
