University rector travels to China with Reno Calleja and a delegation
More disturbing news about Malta from the Chinese press. Why did the rector of the University of Malta need to go all the way to China to discuss traditional Chinese medicine with the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries?
Why is the University of Malta even getting involved with traditional Chinese medicine?
Even more disquieting is the inclusion of Reno Calleja of the China-Malta Friendship Society in Malta’s official delegation. Calleja, a former prominent politician of the Malta Labour Party, has for years been a private citizen. But worse than that, he is linked to the abusive issuing of Malta/Schengen zone visas to Chinese citizens, and there is some evidence to suggest that he asks them for payment to ‘help facilitate’ the process.
The Opposition should demand an explanation in parliament at the first opportunity, mindful of the fact that this is the Rector of the University of Malta we are talking about, and not ‘Juanito Camilleri’.
More pressing questions need to be asked about Reno Calleja. The man is a sleaze with questionable motives.
