OK siehbi? Former acting police commissioner Ray Zammit

Police Minister Carmelo Abela said in parliament yesterday that he has an affidavit from the coordinator of the board which ‘boarded out’ Police Inspector Daniel Zammit (who he did not name), and this affidavit says that standard procedures were followed, with no special treatment.

Abela also said that he doesn’t know who the police inspector is, or who his family is, and that he treated the case just like any other which was referred to him.

Oh right. Yes, Mr Police Minister, we believe you. Well, had Daniel Zammit been just a police constable and not an inspector, and had his father been somebody other than the former acting police commissioner Ray ‘OK Siehbi’ Zammit, we might have done.

But in the current scenario, believing you isn’t possible. So we are faced with a choice between thinking of you as somebody who lied to parliament or as somebody so completely inept that his own private secretariat staff fail to brief him correctly while other minions see him as such a push-over that they trick him with boarding-out papers for Ray Zammit’s son knowing he won’t notice.
