Further to the front-page story in today’s The Malta Independent on Sunday (see previous post): I have since discovered that the government used EU funds to buy that house from the Vella Muskat family of party cronies.

The purchase was ‘smuggled in’ under the umbrella of the ongoing EU-funded project for the restoration of the Gozo citadel.

The house is not within the citadel but on the approach to it. It had been on the market for many years but couldn’t be sold because its tiny size and inconvenient approach make it impractical for residential or commercial use.
