Economy Minister needs to brief Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister said in an interview a couple of days ago that he has no idea where his cabinet colleague’s wife, Sai Mizzi Liang, is working – even though she is a consul for Malta.

Today, the Economy Minister says she is working out of the Shanghai office which the Malta government bought, even though it isn’t set up yet.

The Economy Minister is responsible for Malta Enterprise. Sai Mizzi Liang is under contract to that organisation despite working as a consul. Consuls report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not to Malta Enterprise or the Ministry for the Economy.
