Fomm ir-Rih is beautiful because it is NOT easy to get to

Labour MP Etienne Grech says that the government should look at ways of making it easier for people to get down to Fomm Ir-Rih bay. The only way down is via a precipitous climb.

But that is exactly why it is beautiful. There are no hordes of people with their picnic coolers and their deckchairs and no rows of sunbeds or umbrellas, no bars and snack-sheds.

The Blue Lagoon in Comino was like that up to a few years ago, and look at it now. It’s beyond horrible, really horrible. The wonders of nature are completely obscured by the ghastliness of humanity and its snacks.

Leave Fomm Ir-Rih alone. The Mediterranean is full of bays which are hard to get to. They’re left like that, and people climb down or just go somewhere else.
