Looks like Ian ‘Orgasm’ Borg aims to become the Baron of Had-Dingli
Ministers and parliamentary secretaries are not supposed to carry on in business while they hold their official posts.
So what constitutes business?
The Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds, Ian Borg (he reports to the Invisible Man, the deputy prime minister Louis Grech) apparently spends much of his time scouring his native village of Had-Dingli for parcels of land he can buy.
He was in the news yesterday – a big front-page story in The Malta Independent on Sunday of accusations that he, via his agents, had manipulated a mentally-ill man into selling him a piece of land for just 10,000 euros when his mother still holds the usufruct and his heirs didn’t want it sold.
The Malta Independent on Sunday reported that Ian Borg’s agents had been chasing this man, who is in his 60s, for months trying to get him to sell the land to the Parliamentary Secretary, but he always refused.
Then one Friday they took him out drinking for what turned into a weekend bender. While his family were in a state, searching for him when he didn’t come home, he was drunk as a skunk with Ian Borg’s men.
He then returned home and announced that he was selling the field the next day, and did so.
Ian Borg said yesterday evening that he will take steps to protect his reputation.
